I had computer trouble for the last month, as well as other obligations. That is way I haven’t been able to write here. I did play some games, though. Also, since I have a new computer now, I decided to reset my PC “Currently playing” list.

While away, I’ve completed the main Disgaea DS story, which opened up Etna mode. I’ve also completed Gears of War for the PC. I’m currently playing Far Cry 2 which I like a lot, as well as some other games.

I’ve been playing it all day yesterday and today. That’s how great it is! I’ve gained the badge of omnipotence and have met the Grox which is a super advanced race that lives in the center of the galaxy. I’m not really sure what my goal is, but I think it’s to reach the center. I guess that means I have to fight the Grox to get there, which is not going to be easy.

Completed!

I bought a bunch of repair and energy packs and decided to make a run for the centre of the galaxy. It was tough, as my ship’s range was greatly reduced due to gravitational disturbances as I neared the centre. I even had to go back a few times to take a different path. In the end, though, I managed to reach the centre. There, I met an alien named Steve, who welcomed me to the company of advanced races in this universe. He also gave me the Staff of Life. This nifty item has 42 charges which is the answer to the Ultimate Question about the life, the universe and everything. When you use it on a planet, it gets filled up entirely, and thus becomes fully terraformed. It’s a useful item, but more of a gimmick than anything else, since it has limited uses. Anyway, the game Is completed now.

After completing it, I decided to start again, but this time with a peaceful, herbivore race.

I didn’t expect to finish it so soon. The first two planets where long, but the final few where very short. I defeated the alien with dancing, and it wasn’t that hard. After completing it, I can now replay each planet on its own. There isn’t much point to it though except to collect some extra parts. My final level was 32. It’s a nice game, but not even the same genre as the PC version.

I’m writing this a few minutes after midnight. I got this game hoping it would be a nice hack & slash and I didn’t get disappointed. Basically, it’s Diablo for the DS, but not as good. The story pretty much sucks, but the game play is decent. The game is divided in chapters, and every chapter has four levels, the fourth being the boss level. After you finish one chapter, another one opens, but you can go back on previous levels and train. You can get a skill from every enemy, so this is what you use as your attacks.

My character is a ranged spell caster with most of his stat points put in intelligence. I’m level 29 and I’ve just completed chapter five. I don’t know how big the game is, but I’m hoping it isn’t too big. The last boss I fought was Cerberus (except this one had two heads).Because of the different possible character builds, there is some replay value, but the lack of items kind off kills it. Anyway, I’ll continue to play tomorrow.

Completed!

Well, this was fast and easy. It turns out, there are eight chapters in the game. I got trough the remaining three this morning. As a reward, I got a ring that gives nice stat bonuses and absorbs all four of the elements. The last boss was a breeze with my Diamond Dust attack. If anyone wants to have an easy time with this game, use a spell caster. It’s hard until you get your first thousand gold. Then you buy your first overpowered ranged spell and this is what you will probably be using till the end. The first time I switched spells was chapter 8.

I can still revisit all of the areas, and I think the enemies are a bit tougher, but that’s about it. It’s a nice, fun, short game, but it’s nothing special. However, if you like Diablo, this is probably the closest you’ll get on the DS.

The fifth and final case is solved. And what a case it was! It took me the most of the day to complete it. Everyone was connected somehow. It all linked back to another, solved case from two years ago. The real murderer was the chief of police. He was blackmailing the defendant in to taking the fall for him. He almost got away due to some evidence problems, but I managed to outsmart him.

I realize now why this game is so praised. When you look at it, it doesn’t seem so interesting, but if you start playing it, you just can’t stop. The story is simple at first, but turns in to something incredibly complex as you progress. I don’t think I will be playing the sequel that soon though. It’s not a game you can play for a few minutes and stop, and that’s what I need right now.

I’ve completed all of the 39 episodes and this unlocked five more. Now I have to finish these. I already finished one of them. Apart from the last level, the episode was quite easy. I’m hoping I’ll finish the rest of them today.

EDIT: I’ve completed the rest of the episodes, and now the game is officially finished (I got the credits). I’ve also unlocked everything in the unlockables list including the golden ninja. This is a great and challenging platformer that I recommend to everyone.

This was fast. The game isn’t that long and it seems much easier than the earlier sequels (even with the kid mode turned off). I cleared all of the goals in every level and maxed out most of my stats. There’s still the classic mode I can tackle, but it isn’t part of the story, so I consider it a bonus. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes skating, as it’s probably the best one on the DS.

The game is finished. I crossed the river Styx and fought and defeated Charon there. Now a bridge is built across the river and everyone will have the right to pass. Afterwards, I’ve reach Elysium which was under attack by Hades’ forces. Fighting my way trough, I solved a bunch of quests, and in the end entered Hades’ fortress. In there, I first freed Persephone from her chains and then fought my way towards the throne where Hades was waiting.

Hades wasn’t that hard. I think Typhoon was way harder. The first form was disposed of in a few seconds. The second took a little longer, but it still wasn’t that hard. I was able to just stand and hack away most of the battle. Finishing the game unlocked the legendary difficulty, but I’m not that eager to play it. It’s a good game, but not Diablo.

I’ve gotten through all of the military missions, and I’ve finished the economy campaign. The Pig and The Wolf are dead, so my father is avenged. It’s a really great game, although not your standard RTS (which is what I like about it).

The last mission wasn’t too hard. It was one of those where I’m the one attacking, but since I could build trebuchets and catapults, I could easily destroy most of the enemies’ fortifications before they could do any harm. Since I was aware of traps this time, I lost just a few of my guys while triggering them. My swordsmen and knights took care of the leftovers. I do have the crusader expansion, but I don’t think I will play it right away, since I have other games to finish.

I’ve defeated all but the final boss (Dracula). Braunner was pretty tough, but nothing I couldn’t handle. I’ve also solved most of the quests from Wind. One of the quests unlocked the Nest of Evil, which is an optional area filled with tough enemies and bosses. Another quest asks me to kill one of the bosses with the Blank Book which is one of the weakest weapons in the game. I’ve managed to defeat the first three bosses in the Nest of Evil.

One of the new enemies there (Gold Skeleton) drops Gold Rings which increase the amount of money I get from candles, etc. I got two of these rings and put them on Charlotte. Then I cast Speed Up and started running up and down the staircase in front of Dracula’s throne. There’s a bunch of torches there, and since most of them now drop either 500 or 1000 gold, I got allot of money fast. This allowed me to buy two Master Rings which increase the amount of skill points I gain from enemies. Right now, I’m mastering most of my skills. Jonathan actually has three skills missing from his list so I’ll have to look for them. Charlotte has a bunch of spells missing to.

I have 5 quests left and the Nest of Evil to clear, and then I’ll fight Dracula and complete the game. I hope this unlocks a bunch of stuff like in other Castlevania games.

This game is not without its problems though. It constantly freezes when I switch an area (the music changes) or when I try to activate a teleport or open the menu. It doesn’t do that every time, but it’s quite often. I’m sure it’s not my DS because I tried other games and I have no problems at all.

EDIT: Notice the change in the title? Yup, the game is completed. Not a 100% but pretty close. I got 1000% on the map, all of the skills, all of the enemies, and most of the items. I also solved all of the quests and got the best ending (I think). I’m not sure what’s unlocked, but there’s time for that later. Right now I have other games to play.
